Joey Moi

Joey Moi is a renowned songwriter, engineer, co-producer, and mixer who has worked with many successful recording artists such as Daughtry, Hinder, and Santana.  After graduating from CDIS School of Digital Engineering and Sound, Joey began his thriving career as a late night intern, working on demos for the now multi-platinum group Nickelback.

Soon after graduation, Joey secured a job as an assistant engineer at Vancouver’s famous recording studio Greenhouse, working with artists such as Default and Grapes of Wrath.  In 2001, Moi worked in Seattle for eight months with producer Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam, Blind Melon, Three Doors Down) before returning to Vancouver to co-produce the debut record from Theory of a Deadman, further establishing his notable career as a producer.

Aside from establishing himself as a highly regarded co-producer and engineer, Joey has also gained recognition as a celebrated songwriter.  Moi’s notable hits include Tim McGraw’s, “It’s A Business Doing Pleasure With You”, Nickleback’s “Burn It To The Ground,” and Daughtry’s “Life After You." The song he co-produced and co-wrote with My Darkest Days, “Porn Star Dancing” (featuring Ludacris & Zakk Wylde) hit #1 on the rock charts.

In October 2010, Moi signed a publishing agreement with Big Loud Shirt.  Moi makes frequent trips to Nashville and has written with top writers Brett James, The Warren Brothers and Craig Wiseman.  As a result of his relationship with Big Loud Shirt, Moi landed his first job as a country producer, by co-producing Jake Owen’s new album on RCA due to be out in August, including Owen’s current top 20 single “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”.

Moi co-owns Mountain View Records & Mountain View Studios in Vancouver, BC with Chad Kroeger (Nickelback).
